Pupil Premium
The Government believes that the Pupil Premium, which is additional to main school funding, is the best way to address the current underlying inequalities between children eligible for free school meals and their peers by ensuring that funding to tackle disadvantage reaches the pupils who need it most.
At our school, we are committed to ensuring that every child achieves their full potential, regardless of their background or starting point. The Pupil Premium is additional funding provided by the government to support pupils who may face barriers to learning, including those who are eligible for free school meals, have been eligible in the past, or are looked after by the local authority. Schools also receive funding for children who have been looked after continuously for more than six months, and children of service personnel. (DFE Website)
We carefully use this funding to provide targeted support, high-quality teaching, and enrichment opportunities that help all pupils succeed both academically and personally. Our approach focuses on removing barriers to learning, promoting inclusion, and raising aspirations for every child.
Some of the ways we support pupils include:
- High-quality classroom teaching and additional interventions
- Small group or one-to-one support
- Access to wider curriculum opportunities, including trips and clubs
- Support for wellbeing, attendance, and family engagement
We regularly review the impact of our pupil premium spending to ensure it is making a meaningful difference to pupils’ progress and attainment. We are proud of our inclusive ethos and our commitment to enabling every child to flourish.
