St Matthew's Theologically Rooted Vision 

At St Matthew’s, our vision is to ‘Let your light shine’. We draw our spirituality from our awareness that: God said, “Let there be light”; that Jesus came as the light of the world; and that he calls us to live with him in Heaven – a place where there is no darkness. Guided by our Christian values, we nurture a community where every child is encouraged to be brave, respectful, inspirational, grateful, honest and to shine together. As a rights-respecting school, we are dedicated to creating a safe and inclusive environment where every child can flourish. We support our pupils in becoming loving, confident, resilient and successful global citizens, driven to make a difference, serving our school community and beyond. Our School Motto

   Our school motto, ‘Together we let our light shine bright’, is taken from and inspired by Jesus' Sermon on the Mount from St Matthew’s Gospel 5:16 and embodies our Christian ethos.

It is a clear and powerful reminder for all our children and staff to use the unique and special gifts that God has given us, to make a positive difference to others, to work together for goodness, and most importantly, to reflect Jesus and God’s love in all we do – shining as a beacon of hope within our community and in the wider world.
