St Matthew’s C of E Primary School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all our children and we expect that all staff, governors and volunteers share this commitment.

Our safeguarding policy reflects our visions and values and the general ethos of the school, which is to ensure that pupils are treated with respect and dignity; taught to treat each other with respect; feel safe; have a voice and are listened to. The safety, wellbeing and happiness of our children is at the heart of everything we do. We are committed to providing a secure, caring and inclusive environment where all children feel valued, respected and protected.

 We recognise that safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility, so it is the responsibility of every adult in school.  We work closely with pupils, families and external agencies to ensure that all children are safe and able to thrive. We promote a culture of vigilance and take all concerns about a child’s welfare very seriously. Our safeguarding policies and procedures are designed to support our children and protect them from physical, sexual, emotional abuse, neglect and all forms of bullying. 

All of our staff are trained in and receive regular updates with regard to effective safeguarding. We have a Safeguarding Team who lead on this:
