At St Matthew's, pupil leadership lies at the heart of our vision to let every child’s light shine. We believe that when children are trusted with responsibility, they grow in confidence, character and compassion - living out our school values in meaningful, real-world ways each day.

Our pupil leaders play a vital role in shaping a positive, inclusive and forward-thinking school community. Through our core roles of Rights Respecting Ambassadors, House Captains and the Eco Council, children develop the skills to lead with integrity, serve others and make a lasting difference.

• Our House Captains inspire teamwork and a sense of belonging, welcoming visitors, supporting events and encouraging pupils to strive for excellence while demonstrating our school values of Inspiration, Gratitude and Togetherness.                                                                                                       
• Our Rights Ambassadors represent the voice, values and spirit of our school, promoting children's rights, leading collective worship and modelling our values of Respect, Bravery and Honesty in all they do.                                                                                                                                                                               
• Our Eco Council empowers pupils to become responsible global citizens, leading initiatives that protect our environment and ensure a sustainable future.                                                                                      
• Our Classroom Monitors incorporate all pupils within our school.  As a small family school, we expect every pupil to take responsibility for our school environment, school equipment and each other.  Children in each class are allocated daily roles and responsibilities to support the smooth running and organisation of our school. 

Together, these roles provide opportunities for all of our pupils to actively contribute to school life, influence positive change and develop leadership skills that will serve them well beyond the classroom. Through pupil leadership, our children are not only prepared for the future – they are already helping to shape it!
